by DAVID YANGJan. 14, 2023

Hi Everyone,

We are very pleased to announce that we have several new volunteer instructors joining our team - Peiling, Jinay, and Jasmine!

Peiling is in Grade 8 and have about 3 years of experience in coding. She can do Java, HTML, CSS, Python, and C++. She has gotten excellent marks in the two Beaver Computing Challenges that she have competed in.

Jinay Patel is currently in grade 9. He really started doing a lot of coding in grade 6, specifically with HTML, CSS, and Javascript, and did a few projects of my own. Then he learned C++ and a bit of python, and have been using C++ in robotics for about 2 years now. He can't wait to meet new people here, and help students learn to code!

Jasmine is currently a grade 12 student. Having achieved high A’s in advanced level courses and a full score in the SAT Math section, Math is one of her strongest subjects in school and she is very delighted to join the team as a new Math instructor. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Welcome Peiling, Jinay, and Jasmine!

We have two new instructors joining us: Yuko and Asaad!

by DAVID YANGOCT. 31, 2022

Hi Everyone,

We are very pleased to announce that we have two new volunteer instructors joining our team!

One of them is Yuko Xiao, who is a Grade 10 student at White Rock Christina Academy. Since she began participating in math competitions in seventh grade, she has developed an interest in mathematics. She has received numerous awards from Waterloo for being in the top 25% and top in school (AMC, CEMC). In addition, she has a strong understanding of both standard math and IB criterium math. She can therefore instruct in both a wider but less deep shape as well as a deeper but narrower form (IB). Hope to see you in class; she is really honoured to have the opportunity to teach and interact with new people in DC Coding.

Another instructor is Asaad Husein, a a second-year University student that has a passion for coding. In the beginning, he did struggle with learning how to code, however, after practicing and understanding that anyone that has dedication can understand and learn this discipline, he ended up learning it very well. He knows how to code efficiently in Python and Java, however, he plans to learn C++, HTML, and JavaScript by my third year in University. One of his passions is giving to the community, and volunteering as much as he can to serve it.

Welcome Yuko and Asaad!

David
